September 2015: New dining precinct in CBD to open in October

Victoria Street will soon have an exciting new food and beverage precinct, offering locals and visitors a unique and thriving dining hub not seen in Hamilton before. City Co-op, set within SKCYITY Hamilton atrium, will include The Local Taphouse, a craft beer bar; EAT Burger, a gourmet burger outlet; Marble Room, an exclusive lounge bar, Coffee Post, a stylish cafe and La Parrilla, an open grill Spanish restaurant.

Customers will be drawn to this breadth of new eateries in the CBD, where they can sample the best local produce while overlooking Garden Place. Marble Room, EAT Burger and The Local Taphouse will open in mid October, while Coffee Post, La Parrilla and a shared eating space will be open before Christmas.

Michelle Baillie, SKYCITY Hamilton’s General Manager is pleased to be supporting growth in Hamilton’s CBD by investing in the precinct.
“The City Co-Op will be an exceptional food and beverage hub that will showcase Hamilton, Waikato’s local produce, and attract locals and visitors to the CBD. We are delighted to be a part of the growth in the central city,” says Baillie.

The Local Taphouse will be a favourite new hang out, with craft beer and cider supplied by Good George and other local brewers. The extensive menu will have a focus on local produce and be simple, in season, with lots of shared options. The Local Taphouse will be open daily from 12 October.

EAT Burger will showcase the best local ingredients in simple, delicious burgers alongside Lewis Road Creamery Shakes. This new burger outlet will be open daily from 11am till late from 12 October.

Marble Room will be a sophisticated lounge bar boasting a Spanish tapas menu, one of the largest whiskey selections in town, French Champagne, and cocktails prepared by a senior mixologist. Marble Room will be open Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from 15 October.

Coffee Post will open in early November with a fresh new coffee window servicing the street from 12 October. With a fresh new look and a selection of NZ loose leaf teas, this will be an invigorating new go-to cafe.

La Parrilla, an open grill Spanish restaurant with an authentic menu, will open in December along with a shared eating space in the atrium, completing the City Co-Op development.

Local produce suppliers of the City Co-Op include Wild Country Fine Foods, Magills Meats, Delicate Bake House, Over the Moon cheese and Cilantro cheese.
