June 2016: Regional Triumph at MEETINGS Expo 2016

Passionate people and good humour were ingredients for success at this year’s MEETINGS Expo. Hamilton & Waikato was awarded ‘Best Regional Stand’ for MEETINGS 2016, this follows the region winning ‘Best Stand’ at the Convene Expo held in April.

Hamilton & Waikato Convention Bureau Manager, Amanda Graham says the award demonstrates the region’s growing profile in the business events industry.

“As a region we are a strong collective with many diverse and vibrant experiences on offer to the MICE industry. It’s great to see our operators collaborating and promoting the region with pride at tradeshows like MEETINGS.”

The regional stand comprised of six exhibiting companies – Claudelands Conference & Exhibition Centre, Hobbiton Movie Set, Novotel & Ibis Tainui, SKYCITY Hamilton, Discover Waitomo and Hamilton & Waikato Convention Bureau (Business Events).

Complementing the stand’s business zone was the adjacent Hamilton & Waikato lounge. Complimentary beverages sponsored by Good George and Hobbiton Movie Set were a hit with the attendees, and the garden bar-themed space became a hub for relaxing and lunchtime catch-ups.

Sue Sullivan, CINZ Chief Executive, presented the 2016 Awards for best exhibitor during the MEETINGS 2016 ‘Pasifika dinner’ which was held at Vodafone Events Centre and attended by 650 event organisers.

The exhibitors, from throughout New Zealand, were judged by a team of Australian buyers who said “the (Hamilton & Waikato) stand was appealing, had a relaxation and business zone, the partners on the stand had a vision of growth for the region and were passionate about their product offerings.
