Situated six kilometres south of Cambridge in the Waipa District, located in a 19 hectare recreational reserve, the Sir Don Rowlands Centre offers a quiet and picturesque venue away from the hustle and bustle of the City.
The Domain is one of New Zealand’s premier event venues and showcases a number of sporting and cultural events every year. There are three conference rooms, which can be utilised individually or together. Rooms have capacities for up to 56, 100 or 750 people, dependent on set up. There is an open catering policy and fully licensed bar available.
The Waipa Room is perfect for a smaller conference or breakout area. This room can cater for up to 50 people, dependent on setup.
The Karapiro Room can cater for up to 100 people and is located on the second floor of the Centre with stunning views from the wrap-around deck. Perfect for wedding receptions, conferences, meetings, functions, teaching space and a breakout area.
The Main Hall seats up to 600 people theatre style or 400 banquet style. It is a fabulous space for meetings, award dinners, wedding receptions, large functions and conferences, family functions, trade exhibition shows and classes. This room has a full commercial kitchen attached.
The Centre has an open catering policy and staff can assist with locally based providers for your catering, AV and all function requirements.
Rob Waddell Lodge
The Lodge has 13 dormitory style rooms and has a maximum capacity of 41 people. The Lodge is fully self contained and offers beautiful views overlooking Lake Karapiro. Ideal for team building, corporate and conferencing accommodation. Options are available for linen, catering and bar facilities.
There a five chalets which sleep eight people each, dormitory style. All chalets have en-suite facilities, and there are two self contained kitchens that the five chalets share. Ideal accommodation for conferencing groups, team building and event related stays.
There are 72 powered and 80 non powered campsites available. Full toilet and shower facilities are located in both upper and lower campgrounds and a camp kitchen is situated in the upper campground.
There is a high and low ropes course situated on site. A large range of activities are available in conjunction with the ropes course. These include waka racing, rowing, kayaking, paddle boarding, raft building, archery and team building exercises. There is also an International volleyball sand court available for hire.
