How to Make a Monster

‘How to Make a Monster, the art and technology of animatronics’ opens at Waikato Museum from the 25th February – 15th July 2012.

Event Details:

This exciting exhibition combines imagination, drama, sci-fi and a little bit of scare factor for something for the entire family. The exhibition offers the opportunity to meet animatronics experts from the film industry, experiment with stop-motion animation, after school programmes where kids can create their own monsters, as well as great competitions.

Leading Australian creature effects company John Cox’s Creature Workshop is behind the exhibition with over 35 years’ experience in the visual effects industry. My Cox has won numerous awards for his creations and work in the film industry including on films ‘Babe’ and ‘Rogue’.

The Waikato Museum is the only New Zealand stop planned for the exhibition, and is supported with T Shirt design competitions, monster storytelling, after school pottery classes, clay animation workshops, and live sessions with John Cox exhibitor creator and Sam Doyle from Weta Digital.
