19 Aug 2016: New regional focus for Tourism Growth Partnership

Changes to the TGP announced today will see half of the $8 million fund targeted each year to projects that boost tourism and tourism jobs in the regions.

Part of the Government’s tourism strategy is to ensure all regions can respond to and benefit from increasing visitor numbers, and the changes to the TGP fund will support this goal. The tourism strategy also focuses on attracting the right mix of visitors and ensuring visitors have a high quality experience.

Through the new TGP ‘Regional Stream’, tourism operators in the regions now have more opportunity reap the benefits of growth in the sector with co-funding support from the Government.

The remaining $4 million of TGP funding will continue to support innovative projects that increase productivity in the tourism sector. Other changes will see funding now available for feasibility studies for up to ten projects per round.

So far the fund has awarded $20.7 million to 28 projects and attracted co-funding of $60.5 million.

More detailed information will be made available in early September, when applications for the next funding round will open.
