The exhibition style event organised by the Hamilton & Waikato Convention Bureau was held at Claudelands in August and saw conference and business event organisers from as far as Auckland come to find out more about the venues, accommodation and support services on offer in the Waikato.
Feedback among attendees has been overwhelmingly positive with many commenting that the Showcase offered an easy one-stop-shop to have their questions answered.
Dairy NZ Event Specialist, Andrea Clayton said the Showcase was a great concept and she enjoyed the chance to network with other business event organisers.
“Not only was it fun and entertaining, but it was fantastic to catch up with all of the business event suppliers in one place.”
The inaugural event had initially been pitched as 20 trestle tables and some nibbles to be held in the Claudelands foyer, but quickly evolved into a much larger exhibition-style showcase.
Hamilton & Waikato Convention Bureau Manager, Amanda Graham says the support received from local operators was overwhelming and it was exciting to see the region get behind the Showcase in such a big way.
“There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes to bring an event like this to life, and we couldn’t have done it without the support of major partners.”
The Showcase concluded with a relaxed networking function, with complimentary Good George beverages and a range of treats from Montana Catering. An eclectic mix of entertainment proved that the Waikato region has something to offer for every event, while One Entertainment’s Rio-themed showgirl performance ensured guests were both surprised and delighted.
Talk among exhibitors and buyers has already turned to next year’s event and Graham says the Convention Bureau will look to hold the Business Events Showcase on an annual basis.
Hamilton & Waikato Convention Bureau would like to thank major event sponsors Claudelands Conference & Exhibition Centre, Event Solutions, Montana Catering, Greg Ward MC, The Event Company, One Entertainment, Vidcom, Good George and Barker Photography; and performers Lyrica, Looking for Alaska and Amoroso String Trio.
