The Timber Trail Lodge is at the midpoint of New Zealand’s best two-day cycle trail and offers boutique, fully-serviced accommodation for trail users and other visitors enjoying the wilderness of the Pureora Forest Park. It is a unique venue, ideal for multi-day group gatherings, team building and corporate retreats.
The full-service lodge is nestled on the edge of stunning native podocarp forest with road access and onsite parking available. Special off-grid facilities and sustainable features, alongside a large adaptable dining room, lounge area and extensive decking, make it the ideal venue for a relaxing and comfortable stay for your group.
The lodge accommodates a total of 42 people with a mix of double/twin and triple rooms. One wing has standard bedrooms which share the central bathroom facilities, while all bedrooms in the second wing have en-suite bathrooms. The whole lodge can be booked for the exclusive use of your group.
Full board catering is available and guests enjoy healthy, nutritious meals with a focus on tasty, natural ingredients, served family-style in a relaxed, informal atmosphere. Alternatively, you are welcome to bring in your own caterers.
We can help arrange any additional activities you should require, from team building to assisting with local conservation projects, or bike hire and shuttle transportation if you wish to ride some, or all, of the Timber Trail. If you do wish to have meetings onsite with your group we have Wi-Fi, a projector and screen available in the lounge.
The comfortable and inviting, off-grid lodge has been designed so guests can experience sustainability in practice, and leave with a greater appreciation of minimising impacts and protecting natural environments.
The Timber Trail is part of Te Haerenga, the New Zealand Cycle Trail, and is one of 22 Great Rides that make up the network of trails throughout the country. The grade 2-3 trail is considered one of the best two-day mountain bike rides in New Zealand, popular with people of all ages.
Pureora Forest is a special place with significant cultural and historic values. Birdlife is prolific thanks to renewed predator management efforts. The old logging tracks and tramways now provide biking and walking access to some of the most stunning native forest in the North Island. Visit nearby historic Endeans Mill, a former steam-powered timber mill which is now an open-air museum.
