Set in the middle of a historic conservation park featuring huge podocarp trees and rare birds, the Timber Trail Lodge offers the opportunity for visitors to enjoy a great New Zealand wilderness experience.
The Timber Trail Lodge (open April 2017) offers full-service accommodation for up to 25 people in nine rooms, with shared ablutions. From October 2017 a further 11 rooms with ensuites will be available, with a total capacity of 50.
Guests can enjoy the atmosphere of informality and relaxation in the new lodge building which is set amongst inspirational natural surroundings rich in environmental, cultural and historical values.
The off-grid lodge has been designed so guests can experience sustainability in practice, and leave with a greater appreciation of minimising impacts and protecting natural environments.
Special packages are available for groups.
Catering – full board available, cooked on site by their own staff, with attractive, nutritious meals served communally, family style. Alternatively guest chefs can be arranged to provide more sophisicated meals if required.
Meeting facilities – large open-plan meeting room can accommodate up to 50 people, with projector and screen. Smaller meeting rooms for up to eight people. WiFi available. Please note there is no cellphone coverage.
Activities – The lodge is located at the mid-point of the popular Timber Trail Cycleway. This provides excellent opportunities for short or longer cycle rides, for which staff can arrange hire bikes. There are also local native forest bush walks and within an hour’s drive is jetboating, railcart experiences and Waitomo Caves.
Special activities – the lodge can arrange interesting experiences and activities including wine tastings, cooking demonstrations, yoga sessions, and presentations by conservationists.
