TIA provides an overview of the latest insights from MBIE

Visitor Experience Monitor

Tourism New Zealand has released a new International Visitor Experience Monitor. TIA had advocated for this valuable piece of information to be produced on a regular basis and also guided the content in collaboration with TNZ.

The VEM shows that overall, international visitors rated their experience in New Zealand 9.1 out of 10, with 94% of respondents saying their holiday met or exceeded expectations. Read more.

Spend up 38%

International visitor spend grew 38% to $9.4 billion in the September 2015 year. Significant increases were reported for China (+78%), USA (+55%) and UK (+43%). Read more.

Arrivals up 9%

International visitor arrivals grew 9% in October 2015 compared with October 2014, generated mainly by significant increases in arrivals out of China and Australia. Read more.

Regional spend up

The new Regional Tourism Indicators show that most RTOs recorded stronger international spending for October 2015 compared to October 2014. Domestic spending increased slightly over the same period. Read more.

Conferences stagnant

In the year ended September 2015, a total of 523,000 delegates attended 5400 conferences/conventions, around the same as the previous year. Read more.
