The awards were held to celebrate central city businesses and their achievements, and give them well-earned recognition for their contribution towards the vibrancy and vitality of the Hamilton CBD.
Restaurant hotspot Madam Woo won the Tourism/Hospitality Award, with Little George coming runner up, and highly commended going to the Waikato Museum.
Hamilton’s Bowl and Social at SkyCity was awarded the most improved Hamilton CBD Site Award – with Boon St Festival awarded as the top CBD Experience.
Confinement – Escape Rooms at SkyCity gained a highly commended in the Public Vote Award – judged through public votes on HCBA’s website and Facebook page.
Event master of ceremonies and Hamilton & Waikato Tourism chief executive Jason Dawson says the awards were a chance to celebrate the achievements of the city central businesses, and their contributions towards creating a vital and vibrant CBD.
“We have a stunning array of really proactive operators in the Hamilton central business district and these awards are a way to showcase that, and to give recognition where it is deserved. From fabulous eateries and tourism activities like Waikato Museum and Bowl and Social; through to retailers who are really proactive and passionate about what they do – and these awards reflect that.”
The awards follow the success of another tourism operator recently, Raglan Rock, who was recognised at the Waipa Business Awards, winning the Excellence in Customer Service Award for Raglan, while Raglan Shuttles won the Customer Choice award for Raglan also.
