Alongside an impressive 7 awards for their wines grown and produced in the Waikato, three at the New World wine awards, and four at the NZ International Wine Show. This also includes a silver medal for Waikato famous Charminer, that’s a total of 89 awards over the years for Vilagrad wine maker Jacob Nooyen. “We work hard and it’s a great team effort” Jacob says. “The Wines that won awards are from many different vintages which confirm Waikato can produce great wines”.
Vilagrad Winery was first established in 1922 and is now in its fifth generation of winemaking in NZ. “This reflects a long history and experience in winemaking, who says you can’t make great wines in the Waikato?” says winemaker Jacob Nooyen. These wines are available in local New Worlds, Pak n Saves, liquor outlets and will also be available to sample at the 30th Waikato Home and garden Show on 2-5th October at Claudelands.
